Day 1

Johannesburg to Tydon Safari Camp – Greater Kruger Park

At the start of our 3 Day Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Safari you will be collected in Johannesburg from the OR Tambo International Airport or your pre-safari accommodation, Nelspruit or Skukuza Airport.

We set off for the famous Kruger National Park in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, leaving the bustling city of Johannesburg behind.

Driving northeast we make our way towards Tydon Safari Camp, located in a tranquil bush setting bordering the Sabi Sand Game Reserve at the Shaw’s Gate entrance.

After arriving at Tydon Safari Camp there is time to freshen up, before we embark on our first thrilling sunset/night game drive in Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The Private Sabi Sand Reserve is best known for its superb leopard sighting opportunities and close wildlife encounters.

All game drives on this South African safari are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

Returning from the exhilarating sunset to evening game drive after dark, a welcoming campfire awaits you in the cosy outdoor boma area.

Enjoy pre-dinner drinks around the glowing campfire, before tucking into a well-prepared dinner either in the boma under the stars or in the thatched dining area of the lantern-lit safari camp. Relax around the campfire at the end of your first adventure-filled day on safari in the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve and retire to the comfort of your African-style tented room for a well-deserved rest.

Dinner Included

Day 2

Kruger National Park Safari Drives

Waking up early on day two of this wildlife safari you are greeted by the golden hues of morning-time in this unspoilt African wilderness.

We kick the day off with a refreshing morning coffee or tea, served in the main lodge area among indigenous trees. Then we venture into the untamed bush on a morning game drive in Kruger National Park, South Africa’s top safari destination. Today our game viewing drives take us in search of the Big Five of Africa and the abundance of other wild animals in Kruger.

Our rewarding Kruger game drive is followed by a scrumptious mid-morning breakfast served back at Tydon Safari Camp.

After breakfast, there is some free time to relax at camp. Take a dip in the swimming pool to cool off during the heat of the day, nap in your air-conditioned tent or enjoy a leisurely walk around the leafy campgrounds. Alternatively you can unwind in the lounge area or on the sun deck at camp, taking in the peaceful bush surroundings.

A tasty light-lunch is served around 14:00 in the lodge’s dining lapa. At about 15:00 we venture back into the wilderness on an exciting afternoon game drive in Kruger Park.

Our open vehicle game drives are a great way to get in touch with nature and gain first-hand experience of the African bush, as well as learning more about Kruger’s wonderful fauna and flora.

We explore the best routes for wildlife sightings and photographic opportunities on our  game drives in Kruger and welcome questions along the way. Our guides are happy to share their knowledge and experiences with you, providing you with as much insight into this beautiful wilderness area and its wildlife as possible.

We return to camp for dinner and drinks around the campfire, spending the rest of the evening sharing our tales of the bush and relaxing under the African night sky.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Safari Activities

Each day will see you participate in exhilarating game viewing opportunities in the Kruger National Park and Sabi Sand Game Reserve on open safari vehicles, with a chance to relax and refresh the soul, while maybe being fortunate enough to see lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino in their natural habitat.

Each morning your guide will wake you before first light to embark on your safari drive. The bush is already alive, the air filled with birdsong as the rising sunlight dances off beads of dew on spiders’ webs.

As the intense heat of the day cools, your afternoon safari drive in Kruger National Park or Sabi Sand Game Reserve will see you witness the inhabitants of the bush as they become restless and move out from the shade of the trees in search of water. Watch in awe as the sky turns to the sensational vibrant reds, gold’s and oranges, typical of an African sunset which majestically reflects its rays over rivers, natural waterholes and trickling streams.

 Safari Meals

We consider homely South African cuisine to be an essential part of the Tydon African Safaris experience. The meals that we serve is a reflection of real South African food. We do cater for vegetarians.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served after the early morning game drive or before departure on your last day. There is a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, freshly baked muffins and flapjacks/crumpets. A traditional cooked breakfast buffet is also on offer. Fresh fruit juice is supplied.

Lunch

Lunchtime is during the heat of the day therefore, we prepare refreshing, light meals that satisfy the taste buds. Alongside a freshly made meal, there will be a selection of fresh salads and fruits on offer.

A variety of fresh sandwiches, fresh salads, fruits and fruit salads will be served. Ice-cold beverages and fruit juices are available for purchase.

Dinner

A crackling campfire and flickering lanterns set the mood for dinner under the African skies, while the sounds of nocturnal animals calling in the distance can often be heard. In true safari style we all eat together around the boma.

Traditional South African food is generally cooked over an open fire or in a three-legged pot (or potjie), so meat tends to be served in either stewed or grilled form. We have a selection of the traditional meals which include a starch along with plenty of vegetables and side salads. You can purchase ice-cold beverages or a bottle of fine South African wine to complement your evening meal.
