The Tydon Bush Camp is set in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve bushveld. Meals, including the wonderful dinners in the open-air boma, are heralded by blasts on a kudu horn; a summoning to delicious food.

Each day at Tydon Bush Camp will reveal exiting prospects for sightings of leopard, lion and rhino during game drives. However, there is so much more to an African safari, other than the Big Five. A collection of smaller creatures add colour to the safari experience, and one need not leave the comfort of the camp to see massive herds of buffalo, antelope and elephant families which gather at the camp’s waterhole.

 About The Safari

The 3-Day Sabi Sand Safari Package takes you into one of Africa’s top private game reserves, The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. This reserve forms part of the Great Kruger Park as there are no fences separating them. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is situated in the southern area of the Kruger National Park on its northern border.

The Sabi Sand safari tour caters for singles, couples and small groups as the camp only accommodates 8 people at a time.

From our Tydon Bush Camp you will venture out into the African bushveld in search of one of the 520 bird species, 150 mammal species, and of course the most sort after predators which include lion, leopard, cheetah, African wild dog, serval and caracal. You will also have the opportunity to experience the abundant variety of 410 tree and shrub species.

You will have a total of three drives on an open 4X4 Land Rover searching for some of the above-mentioned fauna and flora. On the morning drive you will have an early start in order to catch the sun rising over the eastern border of the Kruger National Park. This drive gives you the opportunity to catch the animals as they begin their day in search of food. The mornings are always special as the air is still cool and fresh allowing you to soak up the peace and stillness of the African bush. Two out of the three game drives are in the afternoon extending into the early evening, giving you the opportunity to search by spotlight for predators in search of food.

Nothing beats the incredible excitement of driving around a corner and being met by one of the Big Five. The smell of the bush and the beast, the stillness or the roar will form lasting memories that will stay with you forever.

Every day in the bush is a good day!

Day 1

Johannesburg to Tydon Bush Camp – Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Our exclusive 3-day Sabi Sand Safari begins with collection from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport or your pre-tour accommodation, Nelspruit or Skukuza Airports.

We leave the City of Gold, Johannesburg, behind travelling to the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Greater Kruger Park in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.

Driving northeast through the scenic Mpumalanga Province, we make our way towards Tydon Bush Camp, located in a private bush setting inside the world-renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

After arriving at Tydon Bush Camp there is some time to freshen up, before we embark on our first thrilling sunset/night game drive in Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The private Sabi Sand Game Reserve is best known for its superb leopard sightings and close-up wildlife encounters.

All game drives on this Sabi Sand Safari are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

We return from our first exhilarating game drive after dark, to be met by a welcoming campfire in the ambient outdoor boma area at camp.

At the end of the day we enjoy drinks around the flickering campfire, before tucking into a well-prepared dinner. Dinner is served in either the open-air boma under the stars, or in the thatched dining area at the lantern-lit bush camp.

In the evening you can relax around the campfire, sharing tales of your first game drive in the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Then it’s time to retire to your comfortable tented room for a good night’s rest.

A crackling campfire and flickering lanterns set the mood for dinner under the African skies, while the sounds of nocturnal animals calling in the distance can often be heard. In true safari style we all eat together around the boma.

Traditional South African food is generally cooked over an open fire or in a three-legged pot (or potjie), so meat tends to be served in either stewed or grilled form. We have a selection of the traditional meals which include a starch along with plenty of vegetables and side salads.
