Day 1

Johannesburg to Tydon Safari Camp & Game Drive in Sabi Sand

Our 6  Day Kruger Park and Sabi Sand safari adventure begins with pick up from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport or your pre-tour accommodation, Nelspruit or Skukuza Airports.

Departing from the bustling City of Gold, Johannesburg, we drive towards the internationally acclaimed Greater Kruger Park in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.

Travelling northeast into the scenic Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, we make our way to Tydon Camp. The Tydon Safari Camp lies on a tranquil property located at Shaw’s Gate entrance of the prestigious Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

After settling in at the camp, we take our first thrilling game drive in Sabi Sand Game Reserve, in the Mpumalanga Lowveld. Our sunset/night drive takes us in search of wildlife that are hunting and grazing in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

On this Kruger Park & Sabi Sand Safari all bush drives are conducted in open 4×4 safari vehicles.

After nightfall we return from our evening game drive to find an open campfire waiting at Tydon Safari Camp. Sit back and sip on a cold beverage before dinner at the lantern-lit safari camp. Dinner is served outdoors in the welcoming boma, or inside the thatch-covered dining area.

Relax around the campfire under African stars after dinner, or retreat to your comfortable tented-room for a good night’s rest.

Dinner Included

Day 2

Game Drives in Kruger Park

Day two starts with an early morning tea or coffee, before we head into Kruger National Park on our first morning game drive.

You can expect to see plenty of wildlife on our morning game drive in Kruger Park, South Africa’s leading safari destination. Keep your eyes peeled for Africa’s Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant) and a multitude of other interesting African creatures.

After our Kruger game driving adventure we return to camp for a delicious brunch. Breakfast is followed by leisure time at the camp.

During the hottest part of the day we recommend taking a refreshing dip in the camp’s swimming pool or a siesta in your air-conditioned tent. Exploring the natural camp environment on foot is also worthwhile, or you may prefer to sit back in the lounge area or admire the tranquil bush setting from our sundeck.

Light-lunch is served around 14:00 in the camp dining lapa and then at about 14:30 we embark on an afternoon game drive in Kruger Park.

Our  Kruger game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles, immersing you in the African bush and ensuring maximum visibility.

We choose the best bush routes for optimal wildlife sightings and our skilled guides are more than happy to share their knowledge and field questions on our  game drives in Kruger National Park. The game drives enable you to experience this untamed wilderness up close, gaining real understanding of Kruger.

Back at camp evening drinks are served in the boma by the fireside. A hearty dinner is then served, leaving the rest of the night free for you to unwind and share stories about your action-packed day on safari.

We venture into Sabi Sand Game Reserve on foot this morning. Exploring this Big Five territory on foot is a truly unforgettable wildlife adventure!

Walking into the bush where you may come face-to-face with a herd of elephants, a pride of lions and other wild animals is an exhilarating experience that is sure to get your adrenaline surging.

The Sabi Sand bush walk is also an ideal way of getting to know the intricate ways of the bush and its inhabitants, as you track animals and become aware of the details missed on game drives.

Returning to camp after our exhilarating bush walk, we tuck into a tasty breakfast. Then you have free time for a rejuvenating swim in the pool or a well-deserved nap in your air-conditioned African-style tent.

A fresh spread is served for lunch in the camp’s dining area around 14:00. In the late afternoon we set off on our sunset/night drive game giving you time to rest after lunch.

Tydon Safari’s guides are extremely knowledgeable about the Sabi Sand and Kruger habitats and wildlife, sharing their insights and experiences with you on drives.

The Sabi Sand Private Reserve is best known for its excellent leopard sightings, but also offers fantastic close-range sightings of elephants, buffaloes, lions, rhinos and more. Game viewing in Sabi Sand provides you with superb photographic opportunities to capture your safari adventure.

We return to the camp in the evening for pre-dinner drinks around the welcoming campfire.

Each morning your guide will wake you before first light to embark on your safari drive. The bush is already alive, the air filled with birdsong as the rising sunlight dances off beads of dew on spiders’ webs.

As the intense heat of the day cools, your afternoon safari drive in Kruger National Park or Sabi Sand Game Reserve will see you witness the inhabitants of the bush as they become restless and move out from the shade of the trees in search of water. Watch in awe as the sky turns to the sensational vibrant reds, gold’s and oranges, typical of an African sunset which majestically reflects its rays over rivers, natural waterholes and trickling streams.

For the more adventurous at heart, the ultimate adventure awaits you. African wilderness on foot! An early morning bush walk in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve with an armed ranger will see you hopefully encounter wildlife animals and birds while exploring the African bush as we venture into the unknown with the opportunity to face some of the mysteries of nature and to follow animal tracks.
