The weather is a variable which is out of our control, however the seasons do tend to follow a fairly consistent pattern. The first thing to remember is that regardless of the seasons, layers of different items of clothing are the real trick to being comfortable on safari. Clothes should be easy to launder and reasonably hard wearing. Avoid nylon and other synthetics which can be uncomfortable in the hot weather.

Autumn

April and May is a very pleasant time of the year. It is neither too hot nor too cold as the season changes from summer to the start of winter. The days are mild and warm. You will be comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt or a dress. Temperatures drop as the sun goes down so we advise a light fleece/warmer top and long pants for the evenings, especially during the early morning and evening game drives. Blankets and ponchos are provided on the game viewing vehicles.

Average daily minimum: 14° C / Average daily maximum: 30° C

Winter

June through August is Winter. In the middle of the day the temperature remains pleasant enough for short sleeved/three quarter shirts and pants. The early mornings and evenings get cold so we suggest bringing a warm jacket, beanie, scarf and thermal underwear. Blankets are provided on the game viewing vehicles.

Average daily minimum: 6° C / Average Daily Maximum: 26° C

Spring

September through November is a very pleasant time of the year. It is neither too hot nor too cold as the season changes from Spring to Summer. The days are mild and warm. You will be comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt or a dress. Temperatures drop as the sun goes down so we advise a light fleece/warmer top and long pants for the evenings, especially during the early morning and evening game drive. Blankets and ponchos are provided on the game viewing vehicles.

Average daily minimum: 15° C / Average Daily Maximum: 30° C

Summer

December through March being the height of our summer these are, therefore, the hottest months.  The days can get to upwards of 35 degrees Celsius and in the late afternoons, there is the chance of an impressive African thunderstorm. You will be comfortable in short sleeved shirts, vests and shorts/ dresses. It is critical to bring along sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat to protect yourself from the African sun. Ponchos are provided on the vehicle for wet weather, however a light raincoat or jacket is advised should the temperature drop off after the rain.

Average daily minimum: 19° C / Average Daily Maximum: 33° C
